Amber Mustafic (b. 1997) is an Albanian-American artist from New York. In her autobiographical embroidered narratives, she delves into the tapestry of her existence, materializing her spiritual and emotional journeys into layers of thread. Emulating brushstrokes of paint, she stitches vibrant, whimsical dreamscapes where figures float in suspended moments of profound transformation and self-discovery. In these introspective, symbolic compositions, she explores themes of identity, relationships, spirituality, love, and femininity. Mustafic’s work is an intimate, existential and romantic labyrinth where the boundaries between the tangible and the ethereal blur. Her practice is a vessel for deep reflection and contemplation of the mysteries of her human condition.
Mustafic received her B.A. in Art History at Colorado College in 2019. She has participated in group exhibitions at AMcE Creative Arts in Seattle, WA, Gallery 263 in Cambridge, MA, Dododmu Gallery and Visionary Arts Collective in Brooklyn, NY, and Cottonwood Center for the Arts in Colorado Springs, CO. Her first solo exhibition will be in October 2023 at the Kansas City Artist's Coalition in Kansas City, MO.
